MANASSAS, VA – Osbourn High School has tentatively scheduled its graduate ceremony for July 18 as it continues to monitor developments in the new coronavirus pandemic and adhere to guidelines put in place by the governor. Principal Mike Pflugrath made the announcement on Sunday in his weekly update call. For now, the graduation ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. in the stadium at the high school. He noted that school officials will continue to monitor requirements for social distancing and large events as the summer approaches. "As this point we remain hopeful to . prepare for a distinguished graduation ceremony to provide the recognition that our seniors deserve," he said in the update. "We will reassess and reach out in late May as things become more clear as to what we can expect from the summer." In addition, this year's prom has been canceled, due to social distancing guidelines and the governor's stay-at-home order. Pflugrath provided some additional updates in his note, including that distance learning during the fourth quarter will not be graded and teachers will be providing feedback to students. Students may also select a pass/fail grade and exclude the grade from their GPA from the third quarter. Get the latest updates on the new coronavirus in Virginia as they happen.
