Description
LORTON, VA — Pet Valu, a retailer carrying products for pets, will close its Lorton store and other U.S. locations.
The company announced Wednesday it expects its 358 stores and warehouses in the U.S., as well as its corporate office, to close after a wind-down process. Store closing sales are expected to start in the coming days.
"During the store closing process, we will continue to provide our customers with the same great in-store experience, offering them even better deals and value," said Jamie Gould, who was recently appointed as Pet Valu, Inc.'s chief restructuring officer. "We will work to assist our dedicated associates through the transition. We thank all of them for their commitment to our company and our customers, and especially for going above and beyond so we could help customers as an essential service during the pandemic."
Gould said in a news release that stores have been "significantly impacted" by pandemic-related restrictions. The company had been around in the U.S. for more than 25 years.
Customers can continue to shop at stores through the closing process. Gift cards and loyalty rewards may be used for purchases, but U.S. customers cannot place online orders at www.petvalu.com/us, effectively immediately.
The closures do not impact Pet Valu Canada, from which the U.S. company licenses its name and contracts for certain services.
Pet Valu's Lorton location is at Lorton Station Marketplace (9427 Lorton Market Street).
