Loudoun County Offers Free February Drive-Thru COVID-19 Testing

LEESBURG, VA — Phillip Bolen Memorial Park is among four Loudoun County sites that will offer free drive-thru coronavirus testing twice a week during February, county officials announced on Wednesday. Unlike previous testing sites in the county, the locations being used next month will not be mass testing sites but are intended instead to provide regular, predictable testing opportunity for the public and will be limited, county officials said. "While mass testing is an important part of our COVID-19 prevention strategy because we could efficiently test 1,000 to 2,000 people per day, they were sporadic," Loudoun County Health Director Dr. David Goodfriend said in a news release Wednesday. "These more frequent, but smaller testing events will accommodate a few hundred people per day, but the frequency provides residents with greater flexibility when the need for a COVID-19 test arises." The events will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays during February and testing will be limited to between 10 a.m.- 2 p.m., officials said. The schedule is as follows: February 2, 4: Franklin Park, 17501 Franklin Park Drive in PurcellvilleFebruary 9, 11: Phillip A. Bolen Memorial Park, 42405 Claudia Drive, Leesburg (Residents should enter on Crosstrail Boulevard and Sycolin Road)February 16, 18: Cascades Library, 21030 Whitfield Place, Potomac Falls (Testing will take place in the rear parking lot near the Senior Center)February 23, 25: Dulles South Recreation and Community Center, 24950 Riding Center Drive, South Riding Testing is open to all members of the public and there are no residency requirements. No appointments are needed and a person does not need to exhibit symptoms of the coronavirus to be tested. A nasal swab test will be administered and there will be no vaccines distributed at these testing sites.
