Loudoun Wants Feedback On Proposed Commuter Bus Changes Into DC

LEESBURG, VA — Loudoun County is seeking the public's input on future route and schedule changes for Loudoun County Transit's Premium Commuter Bus service, with the goal of improving the bus system's on-time performance for the routes that travel through Northern Virginia into Washington, D.C. All responses to a survey will be taken into consideration before a final decision is made on the routes and schedules, the county said. The Loudoun County Premium Commuter Bus system provides morning and late afternoon rush hour service from Loudoun Park and Ride lots to Rosslyn, Crystal City, the Pentagon, and Washington, D.C. Loudoun County Transit is a public transportation service provided by the county of Loudoun. One of the major proposed changes would split the routes that have been designated as "All City" into "DC East" and "DC West." The change would shorten the travel time for riders traveling to and from the east side of the District of Columbia and would improve the schedule reliability for riders on the west side of the District, according to the county. Although the change would result in a reduced number of buses serving either side of the city, the shorter travel times and improvements in on-time performance should offset that change, the county said. Members of the public can submit comments on the proposed changes through an interactive, online survey map that illustrates each proposed route or schedule change. Clicking on the name of the route will display a summary of the current and proposed route with links to a current and proposed timetable as well as the proposed schedule for the corresponding Loudoun County park and ride lot. The survey will be online through Feb. 3. The proposed route changes to the commuter bus system, if finalized, are scheduled to go into effect this spring.
