Description

LEESBURG, VA – The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office has announced a public safety initiative to increase transparency and enhance collaboration with mental health and substance abuse entities. The initiative, "Loudoun Leads," follows efforts by Sheriff Mike Chapman for greater transparency, including the use of body worn cameras and expanding de-escalation training. In the announcement on the initiative, Chapman said he will not run for governor next year and will instead focus on the new initiative. "While flattered by the encouragement I have received from so many, I feel it is best for me to keep my focus on public safety, reducing crime and further enhancing our already outstanding relationship with the Loudoun community – especially during these difficult times," he said in a prepared statement.
