Description
HERNDON, VA — The Town of Herndon has started digging itself out from under the snowstorm that blanket Northern Virginia over the weekend.
Liberal leave is in effect for all non-essential town employees through 6 a.m., on Tuesday. Those employees who can telework may do so.
Recyclables will still be picked up on Monday.
Crews with the Department of Public Works are working to remove snow from the town's right-of-way. DPW crews will first salt, sand, and plow the arterial routes, before moving on to other streets in accordance with the town's snow removal policy.
The public is asked to act not to park on side streets or cul-de-sacs when snow is forecast. Vehicles are subject to towing if they are parked on snow emergency routes or other streets as marked.
Herndon residents are also asked to clear sidewalks adjacent to their homes and businesses, and to not push snow into the roadway or block drains or fire hydrants.
