College Football Bowl Schedule: Virginia And Around The Country

VIRGINIA — With most of the focus on the College Football Playoffs, there is still a collection of other fantastic bowl games happening around the country, with a pair of games involving Virginia schools. After a stellar season, the University of Virginia will be playing the University of Florida in the Capital One Orange Bowl in Miami on Dec. 30. A day later, on New Year's Eve, Virginia Tech will be playing the University of Kentucky in the Belk Bowl in Charlotte. Florida is a 14.5-point favorite over Virginia. Many analysts are predicting Florida, given its fourth-ranked defense, will cover the spread and then some. But Virginia's defense, ranked sixth nationally, isn't too shabby. The Gators, ranked No. 9 in the final College Football Playoff rankings, are 10-2 this season, while Virginia is 9-4 and was No. 24 in the last rankings. Virginia Tech is a 2.5-point favorite over Kentucky. Kentucky comes into the game with a 7-5 overall record and a 3-5 record in the SEC. Virginia Tech comes into the game with an 8-4 overall record and a 5-3 record in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The is the 27th straight bowl appearance for the Hokies. The Wildcats are entering their fourth consecutive bowl game. The bowl season kicked off Dec. 20, and games will continue into the second week of January, with the College Football Playoff National Championship set for Jan. 13 in New Orleans.
