Grants Offered For Area Nonprofits, Community Recovery

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Applications are open for nonprofits in the Rappahannock River Region looking to help communities recover from the coronavirus pandemic. In its ongoing grant round, which opened in October, The Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region is offering up to $10,000 for nonprofits in support of community recovery. "Our goal is to work collaboratively to accelerate recovery for a thriving, resilient and even stronger region," the foundation's website reads. The grant funds can be used to meet operational or program needs for nonprofits serving the Caroline, Fredericksburg, King George, Spotsylvania or Stafford communities. The fund may be used to provide basic needs like food or shelter, help people cover basic living expenses, mitigate the impacts of income loss or provide health or mental health services for clients and staff, the foundation said. They can also be used to back up operational support for organizations that have had to modify operations to meet community needs or are facing financial challenges as a result of the pandemic. The deadline to apply is Dec. 7, and awards will be announced the week of Jan. 25, 2021. The community foundation is a nonprofit organization and is accepting donations for its community recovery grant program.
