Fredericksburg Museum Hosts 'A Night of Black Stories' Series

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — The Fredericksburg Area Museum, in partnership with Hinesight Inc., is holding "A Night of Black Stories" summer series starting Friday. The three-week series is a free outdoor event from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. over the next three Fridays in historic Market Square in downtown Fredericksburg at 907 Princess Anne Street. The event will feature stories from local leaders in the black community. "These important stories and conversations will be had in honor of George Floyd and the tragic injustices that have affected the African-American community long before his death," the museum said Wednesday in a statement. In accordance with the state policies, the museum is asking attendees to wear a mask and maintain social distancing at the event. Attendees also are invited to bring a lawn chair. "This event series will help serve our community in this needed time for honest conversation and addressing real issues that our fellow community members have experienced and may still be experiencing," the museum said. "As the path forward begins, we must first listen and learn to grow from within." The museum remains closed to the public due to the coronavirus crisis. Hinesight Inc. is a Fredericksburg-based nonprofit group that works to address poverty in the area.
