FALLS CHURCH, VA — The City of Falls Church announced a road closure related to the Mary Riley Styles Public Library renovation and expansion project. The 100 block of North Virginia Avenue will be closed between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. starting on Monday, Aug. 24. The city anticipates the daytime closure will continue into the week of Aug. 31. The closure will accommodate a crane working on the project at 120 North Virginia Avenue. The road closure will cut off access to pedestrians and vehicles. Patrons and employees of businesses in the block will be given access but should expect potential delays. Sidewalks on the library side of Virginia and Park Avenues have already been closed during the project. The library renovation and expansion project is expected to continue until May 2021. The library is operating in temporary trailers at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School, 601 South Oak Street. The library building is closed to the public due to the pandemic, but online services and curbside pickup are available.
