ASHBURN, VA — The Nov. 3 election is here in Ashburn, and voters will decide on races for president, U.S. House and U.S. Senate, as well as state constitutional amendments and county bonds. Absentee Voting Absentee voting by mail and in person began on Sept. 18. For absentee ballots returned by mail, they must be postmarked by Tuesday, Nov. 3 or delivered in person by 7 p.m. on Nov. 3. Alternatives to returning an absentee ballot by mail or taking it to 750 Miller Drive SE, Suite C in Leesburg. Election Day Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 3. For those voting in person on Nov. 3, you can check your polling place at https://www.loudoun.gov/197/Find-Your-Polling-Place. Most voters will cast their ballots at their normal polling location in Loudoun County on Election Day. However, there are some changes that will affect the location of in-person voting at three precincts on Nov. 3. Precinct 819 – Heritage Church in the Ashburn Election District has been moved to Broad Run High School, 21670 Ashburn Road.Precinct 118 – Moorefield in the Dulles Election District has been moved to Briar Woods High School, 22525 Belmont Ridge Road.Precinct 401 - West Lovettsville in the Catoctin Election District is returning to its original location of the Lovettsville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Station, 12837 Berlin Turnpike. An acceptable form of identification is required to vote in person, but it no longer has to be a photo ID. Examples of accepted IDs include a Virginia driver's license or DMV-issued photo ID, U.S. passport, and copy of a utility bill, paycheck or other government document showing the voter's address. Also, due to social distancing measures in place, voting may take longer than usual, so voters should plan accordingly. Voters who have requested and received an absentee ballot by mail, but who then change their mind and want to vote in person, must bring the ballot with them to the polling place in order to vote. This will likely also cause a longer-than-normal wait time for the voter because of the process involved in surrendering the ballot.
