STERLING, VA — A Loudoun County Sheriff's deputy and a suspect who police say injured three people during an attempt theft of a Sterling Walmart store remain hospitalized on Monday, a department spokesman said. Police have not identified the identity of the suspect, who remains in stable condition in a local hospital as does the deputy, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries along with two store employees, who were also injured in the incident on Saturday. Both of the store employees have been released from the hospital, the department spokesperson said. All three people were injured at the Walmart at Dulles Crossing Plaza after two store security officers approached the suspect after seeing him steal items from the store, police said Saturday. Two sheriff's deputies approached the suspect to make an arrest when the suspect pulled out a gun and began firing, striking one of the deputies and the two employees. The suspect fled in a vehicle he had stolen from a nearby parking lot and was later arrested after the vehicle he was in crashed near Presgraves Court in Chantilly. The suspect was arrested by Fairfax County police and was taken to the hospital. The department spokesman said Monday that the suspect's identity will be released once he is served and charged in the incident.
