ASHBURN, VA — A man from Washington, D.C., is in custody and faces charges for the January armed robbery of a Bank of America in Loudoun County. The man, Amobi Agu, is being held in Washington, D.C., on unrelated charges, according to a press release from the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. On Saturday, Jan. 2, a man who police identified as Agu entered the Bank of America in the Dulles Crossing Plaza. Inside the bank, the man walked toward a bank employee and showed a firearm, according to police. He then demanded money from the employee. After receiving the money, the man left the bank and fled in an SUV, police said. Nobody in the bank reported any injuries from the incident. Agu was arrested by the Metropolitan Police Department last week, and held on warrants obtained by the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office, police said. The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is now cooperating with other local authorities to determine if the robbery in Loudoun is related to other, similar cases in the region, according to a press release. Agu has been charged with armed robbery, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is still being held in Washington, D.C., pending extradition.
