Loudoun County, VA (February 8, 2021) – An Ashburn man has been charged after he used funds from a Loudoun-based football league to pay for personal expenditures.
Louis E. Turpin III, 46, was the former president of the Ashburn Youth Football League (AYFL) and as part of his position with the AYFL he had access to the league's bank accounts. Irregularities were discovered in the AYFL financial records by league officials earlier this year. After an investigation conducted by the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office Financial Crimes Unit, it was determined Turpin wrote checks for personal expenditures from the AYFL's accounts in 2019 totaling approximately $7,500.
Turpin turned himself over to authorities Friday afternoon and was charged with two felony warrants of embezzlement.
He was released from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on a personal recognizance bond.
