ASHBURN, VA — The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office arrested a man in connection with a shooting that took place on Jan. 17. The accused gunman, Jose Rivas-Castillo, is charged with multiple felonies, according to police.
On Jan. 17, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office was notified of a shooting after a man was brought to the emergency room at Inova Loudoun Hospital. The victim was suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg, according to police, and is still in the hospital.
Investigators determined the shooting took place in the 1000 block of South Ironwood Road. Police also identified Rivas-Castillo as a suspect in the shooting.
Police obtained a search warrant for Rivas-Castillo's residence in Sterling. There, they found a rifle, 32 grams of suspected crack cocaine, and more than $1,000 in cash, according to police.
Rivas-Castillo was arrested on Feb. 9. He is charged with aggravated malicious wounding and the use of a firearm during commission of a felony. He is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.
