ASHBURN, VA — Thursday, Nov. 26 is Thanksgiving Day and a federal holiday, which means government offices, schools and some businesses will take a break in its observance. Here's a look at what's open and what's closed in the Ashburn area on Thursday and Thanksgiving weekend: Loudoun County Offices: County offices will close at noon Nov. 25 and remain closed through Friday, Nov. 27. Loudoun County Schools: Schools and division offices will be closed Nov. 25-27. Post offices and mail: Closed Thanksgiving Day. No mail will be delivered. County Courts: All Loudoun County courts will be closed Nov. 25-27. State Courts: Circuit Court, General District Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court are closed Nov. 26. Loudoun County Transit: Loudoun County Transit will be closed Thanksgiving Day. Service will operate on a significantly reduced schedule on Black Friday. View Thanksgiving Day service changes online. MetroRail and MetroRapid will operate on a Sunday schedule. Local MetroBus routes will operate on a Sunday schedule. Libraries: All Loudoun County Public Library locations and book returns will be closed for Thanksgiving from noon on Wednesday, Nov. 25, through Friday, Nov. 27. Services will resume Saturday, Nov. 28. Historic Sites and Museums: The Loudoun County Visitor's Center is closed Thanksgiving Day. Trash Collection: Loudoun County does not offer curbside trash pickup. Check with your independent provider about trash collection. Landfill/Recycling: The Loudoun County Landfill and Recycling Drop-Off Center will be closed Thanksgiving Day.
