ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County Police arrested two individuals in connection with two separate weapons violations Wednesday, one at a Pentagon City business and the other in the Shirlington area, according to the daily crime report. Around 2 p.m., an officer observed five juveniles passing their cruiser and then stopping a short distance away. The officer then watched as one of the juveniles readjusted a firearm in their waistband, before concealing it under their closing. The juvenile entered a business and dispersed. The officer located and made contact with the juvenile with the firearm. After confirming the juvenile's age and locating the firearm, the officer took the person into custody. ACPD filed petitions for the juvenile suspect for carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a handgun or assault firearm by a juvenile. In the second case, police were dispatched around 1:20 p.m., for the report of a dispute at a residence in the 4000 block of S. Four Mile Run Drive. The officers learned that a man had entered the residence and engaged in a verbal dispute with the occupants. During the dispute, the man retrieved a firearm from the residence and then assaulted and threatened a male victim. Prior to police arrival, the man fled the scene. After broadcasting a lookout, the responding officers located the suspect's vehicle and made a traffic stop at the intersection of 24th Street S. and S. Glebe Road. They then took the suspect into custody and retrieved the firearm without incident. ACPD arrested Safiullah Rauf, 26, of Arlington, and charged him with brandishing and assault and battery. He is being held without bond.
