ARLINGTON, VA — More than 2,000 Arlington homes were temporarily without power Wednesday night after a vehicle crashed into a utility pole around in the Buckingham area, according to a Dominion Energy spokeswoman. Around 9:16 p.m., officers from the Arlington County Police Department responded to the unit block of N. Glebe Road for the report of damage to a property caused by a vehicle crash, according to ACPD spokeswoman Ashley Savage. The drive of the vehicle fled the scene before police arrived, Savage said. Officers conducted a search of the area, but the driver was not found. No injuries were reported and this remains and active investigation. "We had more than 2,000 customers without power immediately," said Peggy Fox, communications manager with Dominion Energy. The utility company was able to do some proactive switching, which allowed them to restore power quickly for most customers, according to Fox. Repair crews remained on the scene overnight. The work involved not just repairing the utility pole but also some underground switches, Fox said. As of 9:15 a.m., on Thursday, 182 Dominion Energy customers remained without power.
