Armed Robbery Charges Filed Against Arlington Man: Report

ANNANDALE, VA — Fairfax County Police arrested Tevago Bell, 32, of Arlington in connection with a series of recent armed robberies in Annandale, according to a police release. Detectives from the Major Crimes Bureau revealed that in three of the four robberies, Bell approached the victim, showed a firearm, and then stole their personal property. In the fourth case, police say Bell took the victim's purse by force. In the first incident, the victim was sitting in his parked car in the 4200 block of John Marr Drive around 7:30 p.m., on Jan. 9, when a man approached him with gun and demanded money. After taking the cash, the man ran away. On Jan. 21, around 10:30 p.m., a man with a gun approached a woman in the 7000 block of Little River Turnpike and demanded she turn over her personal property. The man then fled the scene with the property. A man approached a woman around 2:38 p.m., on Feb. 6, in the 7800 block of Heritage Drive, threw her to the ground, and took her property. He then fled the scene on foot. In the most recent incident, police say a man approached a woman in the 4200 block of Markham Street around 9:46 a.m., on Tuesday, showed a gun, grabbed the victim's property and ran away. The victim suffered minor injuries. On Wednesday night, officers from FCPD's Franconia, Mason and West Springfield district stations were conducting a surveillance operation in Annandale, when they noticed a man matching the description of the suspect based on previously obtained surveillance footage. They arrested Bell and discovered that he was in possession of a BB gun. Police charged Bell with four counts of robbery and three counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
