SAN ANTONIO, TX — Of the 91 people under quarantine at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, none are showing signs of the new coronavirus, according to U.S. Rep. Will Hurd, who tweeted out an update Saturday afternoon.
San Antonio-Lackland is one of four bases in the U.S. housing people who were evacuated from Wuhan, China, My San Antonio reports. The evacuees at San Antonio-Lackland arrived Friday, and will be quarantined for 14 days at the Gateway Inn on base.
Earlier Saturday, officials with the U.S. Embassy in Beijing told the New York Times an American citizen in China has died from coronavirus. While few details are known about the individual, reports say the 60-year-old woman had underlying health conditions.
The virus has killed at least 700 people in China and sickened thousands more as it continues to spread across the globe.
