Dallas Police Chief Reneé Hall, the city's first Black woman chief, resigned Tuesday.
"Dallas City Manager T.C. Broadnax has accepted Dallas Police Chief Reneé Hall's letter of resignation effective November 10, 2020," a media release from the city states. "Broadnax has alerted members of the Dallas City Council and Chief Hall has notified her Command Staff."
Hall's resignation comes after the George Floyd protests where DPD arrested 185 protesters during the first weekend of protests between May 29 and June 1. On Monday, June 1, marchers were trapped on the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, and 696 people were detained.
