Description
U. S. Grant Home Tour Across the river from downtown Galena stands the Ulysses S. Grant Home State Historic Site. The home was built in 1860 for the city clerk Alexander Jackson and purchased by 13 Galena businessmen in 1865 as a gift for General Grant. We invite you to take a tour of the first floor of the home. The background of the home and family will be covered first and then you will be allowed to walk through the first floor taking photos. Interpreters will also be on hand to answer questions. Tour times are 9:30, 10:30, 11:30, 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30, on Wednesday through Sunday, and reservations must be made prior to entering the home. If you need assistance making your reservation call us at 815-777-3310. There is no charge for the tour, but donations to support the historic site are appreciated.
