JOLIET, IL —A 32-year-old Joliet man who lives near Black Road was arrested last week by the Will County Sheriff's Office in connection with allegations that he obtained nude photos of a woman and threatened to show them to other people. The Will County Sheriff's Office conducted the investigation that resulted in the arrest of Jason Cardenas, who lives in the 1000 block of Gael Drive. The Will County State's Attorney's Office charged Cardenas with a felony offense of intimation and two additional charges of assault and disorderly conduct. On Feb. 17, Cardenas tried to cause a woman to consent to a sexual act by communicating a threat to her to expose her ridicule, court documents state. Cardenas showed her digital images that purported to show her nude, and he threatened to disseminate the images, the criminal complaint against him reads. As for the charges of assault and the one for disorderly conduct, the complaint states that he reached his hand toward the thigh of the woman and did so "in such unreasonable manner as to alarm or disturb another ... and provoke a breach of peace." After spending about 24 hours in the Will County Jail, Cardenas was freed on Thursday night after posting 10 percent of his $3,000 bail, jail records show.
