PITTSBURGH, PA - If former WPXI-TV Amy Marcinkiewicz is successful in her bid for public office, she won't be the first Pittsburgh newscaster to accomplish that feat.
Marcinkiewicz announced her retirement from the station this week to run for a magisterial seat in Butler County, ending a 25-year run at WPXI.
On a lesser scale, she's hoping to follow in the footsteps of Ron Klink. He spent more than a decade as a KDKA-TV weatherman before deciding to run for the U.S. House in 1992. Klink was successful in that bid and spent four terms as a congressman before giving up his seat in an unsuccessful attempt to win a U.S. Senate seat.
So there is a precedent for what Marcinkiewicz is trying to accomplish. Patch wishes her well with her budding political career.
