As always happens when you repeat what you are told to believe by those charged with doing your thinking for you, you show just how little you actually know. Texas has gone through many winters with no problem concerning our electrical grid, other than when we are hit by tornado's and hurricanes that caused much more damage, loss of electrical power, loss of lives and suffering than did the once in decades storm we just experienced. Weather is not under our control and as much as we would all like to be free from anything that might interrupt your life, chit still happens. What caused the wind generators to fail. The main cause was the lack of enough wind speed to keep ice from forming on the blades. Wind generators do not work when there is no wind to turn them. Even if the wind increases after ice has already formed, the blades are misshaped and no longer balanced and will no longer turn. Much of Texas gas production goes to other states to heat homes, businesses and electrical power plants. This reduced the availability of natural gas for our own plants. Since fracking has made natural gas much cheaper, it has lessened the incentive to produce more. America and Americans have become prima donnas demanding that there be no disruption or angst in their lives. Most have yet to "leave home" and instead of parents providing their needs, they expect government to take over where parents left off. Get off your knees, stand straight, learn from adverse experiences and you will be better able to deal with disappointments and mishaps in the future. Remember, no matter how much you dislike what nature deals, your own well being depends on yourself, not some government official who you expect to change your diapers for you.
