Description
Company: HomeIsHowYouBuildIt. Position: Part time/ semi-full time. Stating Pay: 18hr-22.50hr (depending on your skillsets) WHO WE ARE: We are HomeIsHowYouBuildit, a design and build firm specializing in small space design and small project renovations. Established in 2015, we are a very small, lean group of designers and professionals offering a very unique design approach to our clients and providing the very best in high-quality and precision builds. We do things much differently than the construction world around us and hold ourselves very high standards. Quality, professionalism, timeliness, efficiency and attention to detail are all non-negotiable principles for us. That to say, we’ve been given a fun and exciting opportunity to be the hosts/builders of a new TV Show on HGTV and looking for a local team to work and be apart of this exciting process. WHO YOU ARE: Responsible adult. Professional. Timely. Clean. Respectful. Teachable. Organized. Takes pride In your work. Likes fast paced environments. You do need to have some experience with building and power tools. You do need to be able to work quickly and efficiently. You need to be flexible and at the same time able to conform to the days structure and fast moving environment. You do need to be organized and clean and intentional on how you work. The way we succeed is through developing systems that we can take with us to every job and every location. THE POSITION: Carpenter with an ability to design. The projects we are being asked to be apart of will vary and are mostly be carpentry related. We may work in other areas but this is the primary skill set we are looking for. Reading and working with CAD a huge plus. This position will primarily be a helper and assistant in the beginning as I learn about you, and your strengths and weaknesses, but will also be very hands-on and given responsibilities based on what I think you are are able to handle. This is not intended to be a one-off job. I’m looking for a highly motivated member of the team that will be my partner and co-collaborated and artist as we serve the 12 homes and projects we are apart of. I am looking to fill the position for the full term of the process. Not just a guy looking to learn, get paid, and leave. I need to be very clear on this. The goal here would be to throw you on this set of projects right in the middle and see your skillsets, how you do, how well you follow direction, get along with others, and your specific strengths and weaknesses. It would start as a part time position a few days a week and possibly More with the needs of the show. My Management Style: My management style is to cater and lean in to your individual strengths and challenges your weaknesses to be better rounded. My desire is to both equip and empower my team to be their best by constantly putting them into position of learning and challenge. I call this “finding your edge” - the thin line between working within your skillsets while leaning over the “edge” of uncertainty and uncomfort. This is where we grow. My desire is for you to grow while simultaneously serving the company’s needs by serving our customers. It’s that simple: Over time, as you grow, so will your responsibilities. This position has the ability to elevate you and your skill sets to a new level but does require a give-and-take. I run a tight ship, and have high expectations. Giving less than your very best is unacceptable. Above all things I value quality and professionalism. I like things done right the first time and I’m looking for hardworking responsible men who feel the same. I will always be giving feedback but this is not to be taken personally. Ensuring a quality product to my client is the ultimate goal but your professional growth is also something I value highly. CORE QUALITIES OF WHOM WE ARE LOOKING FOR: Reliable – Do what you say you are going to do. If you are scheduled at 9, Be there at 9. If you say you will get the job done, get the job done right. No excuses. Know that any good relationship requires trust and this is the foundation of that trust. With this trust comes more responsibility and more pay. It’s a symbiotic relationship that only flourishes with this trust and leaning. Thorough – or in other words “quality.” A job done right is thorough. No shortcuts. No “that’s good enough”. No “No one will know”. My expectation is that you will do your best every single time because you take pride in who you are and the work you produce. It’s really that simple. The difference between good and great is in the details. We only do great work. Everytime. Consistent - You and your work are the same on Monday as you are on Friday. The same the first week as you are on week 6. This is because you have guiding principles that do not waiver. You may not have to work fast, but you do need to be consistent so that I may know where are you with your skillets so I can put you in a position to help you grow and be successful. Our next team member should also...(please read carefully): -possess a strong willingness to learn and the ability to retain information. -Willingness to adapt. Things rarely go as planned or expected in construction and the ability to adapt and move around challenges is a requirement to be successful. Takes practice. -Is NOT the type that sits around waiting for direction, instead looks for ways he can be of help without being told. This is probably what makes or breaks those who make it and those who don’t -punctual, and values the importance of being on time and the effects of being late. -Has transportation (truck preferred but not necessary) -Has a valid Drivers license (not suspended, revoked or expired) - Clean and respectful. No face/neck tattoos and well kept. You will be facing/meeting/speaking with clients. This means showing up to work in uniform (company shirt) and ready to work. -Organized. I believe in efficiency. Every tool has its place. I need you to be the same way. The disorganized don't ever make it on my team. Time looking for tools is a poor use of time. - their own dedicated space to work out of and from is not required but would be a big plus. If this is something that interests you, please reach out to the email listed above with your name, age, and a little about yourself and your skillsets. Email me first and I will call you if I like what I see. Remember to be you. Be honest with your skillsets. Don't try to impress me. Use punctuation and proper grammar. Tell me what you do well and what you do-not so well. I'll be in touch. Chris
