Description
On March 14th, we will be hiking the gorgeous Mount Chocorua LET'S TAKE A HIKE! I am overflowing with gratitude and excitement as I plan to take this bright bunch up to the Whites. Getting outdoors and connecting to the world around us is essential to creating a healthy, happy and spiritually wealthy life. The White Mountains have held a very special place in my heart since I first stepped foot on their earth. With each visit they continue to inspire me, to humble me, and to draw out my awe for this life. "To recover the purest Zero mind, and cosmic consciousness, we first have to attain an earth consciousness." - Ilchi Lee On March 14th, we will be hiking the gorgeous Mount Chocorua. Even though he is not one of the famous 4-thousand footers, he will still give us a run for our money. The strength of our body, mind, and spirit will be challenged and there will be multiple instances where we will be confronted with the question "can I do this?" Of course I am not sharing this to be scary, I want to bring as many of you happy humans along as I can. But it is very important to be realistic about your WILLINGNESS and ability to hike between 3-4 hours up and about 2 hours down. Winter will add a completely new element for many of us to face. However, it's one of my favorite times of years to hike. As long as you are well prepared, it can be one of the most pleasant times of year to be on trail. I would encourage even those new to hiking to feel confident joining IF you can honestly answer that you are willing to challenge yourself AND you feel like your baseline condition is up for it. **if you are not sure please ask me directly. Also, we can meet as prep** I will be posting a video of MUST HAVES in regards to how you dress, pack your bags, etc. Time of event does not include the 2 hour drive up and back. We will meet at 6:00am in Arlington and plan to arrive back in Boston around 6pm. COVID guidelines will be followed. Contactless temperatures will be taken before carpooling. 2-3 people per car. Trust your senses- if you feel ill stay home. Thank you. YOU MUST HAVE WATER: at least 2 liter, I'd prefer if you had 2.5 FOOD: Think smallest, most calorie rich snacks (PB&BANANA!) (clif bars) LAYERS: Think extra socks and undies (seriously, but most importantly socks) At least two long sleeve base layers and one long sleeve jacket (something like a rain pullover or windbreaker) A base layer pant and snow pant or shell. A winter coat or puffy. Most likely you'll want to be hiking in just a single layer the whole way up, but the summit will be cold and being over-prepared in terms of clothing is better than under-prepared. HATS, GLOVES, EAR & FACE PROTECTION GOOD SHOES: Insulated waterproof boots are mandatory. Gaitors are always a good idea, but if you have waterproof pants that tent over the ankle of your shoes this will suffice. I will explain this further in the video. MICROSPIKES: Kahtoola makes good ones. Make sure to check the size guide. Sometimes it's a size up for insulated winter boots Quality bandaids are included in the footwear category. (I have plenty of these) Ziplock baggie: or something to pack all trash and TP (yes, I mean toilet paper) off of the trail. Pack it in, pack it out. (I will be more than happy to share everything I know both about Leave No Trace and how to take successful bathroom breaks in nature :) More Questions?
