National commercial paving company is hiring a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for our Fort Myers, FL location. As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, the essential duties include the following: -Analyze malfunctions and repairs, -Perform diagnosis and repair equipment as required -Knowledge of heavy site construction equipment operation, maintenance, capability, use, and function. -Operate and inspect machines or equipment to diagnose defects. -Prepare all reports and forms required in conjunction with job assignments. -Identify parts needs and place orders. -Report any additional work required on equipment to the manager. -Performs standard and preventive vehicle maintenance. -Maintain a clean work area and perform work in a neat and orderly fashion. -Insures safety & longevity of our fleet through thorough inspections. -Works in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate guidelines(i.e., safety, DOT) -Working knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems. -Ability to MIG, TIG and stick weld. -Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule. Job Requirements -Must have at least 3-5 years of experience as a mechanic with heavy equipment and diesel capabilities/knowledge. -Knowledge of all types of construction equipment (Cat skid steers, Cat Rollers, Weiler Asphalt Pavers, Isuzu 5500 Trucks, Small Engines/equipment, Trailers exc) -Ability to use hand tools and power tools to repair vehicles and equipment. -Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. -Work in a shop environment. -Valid and appropriate in-state drivers license is required. -Candidates with their own tools are preferred but not required.
