Learn the basics of knife selection care and usage
This is an introductory class on knives for outdoor use.
First, students will receive an overview on knife composition, selection, and maintenance, and practice sharpening various knives. The primary focus in this section will be on safety.
Next, students will practice fundamental knife use, including a few basic grips and cuts. Students will be expected to demonstrate safe knife handling skills.
This is not an in depth knife class. It is intended for people new to bushcraft to be exposed to the basics so they can make informed decisions on knife purchases and usage.
Students should bring any knives and sharpening equipment they may have. I will also supply a few examples of different styles of outdoor knives, a few different sharpening systems, and provide wood for students to work with.
Due to the ongoing pandemic students will be required to wear masks at all times.
