Description
I unfortunately have to rehome my 7 year old (dob Dec 2013) mixed breed dog.
She does not do well with other animals in-home due to resource guarding. She will fight over any resources (food, water, or toys). For this reason she must be the only animal in the home. She currently lives with other animals and has been on a crate/rotate situation for years, and it has led her to not get the time necessary which is not fair to her or the others.
She is highly trained in basic and advanced obedience, and has been trained to obey even in off leash and distracting environments. She does test boundaries and will need someone who enforces the rules as she will figure out who she can take advantage of.
She is ball and food driven. She may be a suitable sport candidate for someone interested in prey driven sports like lure coursing or barn hunt.
She is crate trained and housebroken. She is trained to walk on the treadmill, and she can run alongside a bike. She rides fantastic in vehicles. She barks if someone comes onto the property or enters the home. She is an indoor dog — she is not a yard ornament and is not equipped to be one.
She gets along well with people of all ages, but she does play rambunctiously and has accidentally knocked young children and adults over. She does not do well with abusive types of people (ie, if you’re the type to hit your dog, keep moving) as she suffered abuse in her past.
She will come with her vaccination records, microchip information, Embark results, commands list, a bag of her current food, and a few of her chews/toys. Her rabies was UTD in March 2020 so she will not need another one until 2023.
She will not go to just anyone, so please expect to answer a few questions regarding your ability to care for a dog who resource guards. She will be free to the chosen home.
