Summary The Facilities Maintenance Technician/Grounds keeping supports the ongoing operations of Spirit Rock events, classes, and retreats.  This position performs emergency, and seasonal maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds and vehicles and also performs grounds keeping and land care projects as directed.  This position will also actively support the ongoing work to maintain a safe and productive work environment for all staff.  Specific Responsibilities: Facilities Operations Coordinate and complete maintenance and janitorial projects to meet the needs of all facilities. Fully participate in the support of the logistics for retreats and daylong events (event set-up, parking, breakdown) Recommend maintenance, repairs, safety priorities and solutions to Facilities Manager Ensure that there is sufficient supplies/inventory on hand to fulfill job duties Maintain tools and equipment inventory Maintain campus cleanliness and perform custodial duties as required Groundskeeping Help to maintain natural environments including landscaping and the meadow Maintain the cleanliness of outdoor areas on the campus Care for and cultivating of foliage, including pruning, fertilizing, weeding, watering etc. Supervise volunteers in these same areas Schedule and manage vendors to perform necessary tree care and also to maintain a fire defensible space Monitor and maintain weather proofing on facilities, outdoor drainage systems and ensure safety of equipment and furnishings exposed to the weather Operate and maintain landscaping tools, backup generators and Spirit Rock vehicles Maintain and submit bio-retention logs to Marin County This work week is 37.5 hours but this position may be required to work outside of the regular work week and will be required to work overtime on occasion. Perform other duties as assigned; Qualifications Three to five years’ + experience in a similar position(s) Demonstrated knowledge of maintenance, landscaping, grass and field mowing and tree trimming An ability to work on multiple projects at one time Work with minimum direct supervision and operate effectively on a team Proficiency with computers and related software and technology including WindowsOS/MS Office/Outlook/Google Docs Demonstrated grace while under pressure Ability to work outdoors much of the time with exposure to seasonal weather conditions Ability to sit, walk or stand for extended periods including walking up and down stairs, ladders and hillsides Ability to lift, carry, push or pull objects up to 50 pounds Ability to perform moderately difficult manipulative tasks Ability to communicate clearly on a telephone and walkie-talkie This position will be exposed to chemical substances that are typical for maintenance, janitorial and landscaping work.
