Description
Experience the healing and wellness-promoting effects of bathing the senses in the atmosphere of the natural world. Our days can be so tech centered we forget to nourish the human vessels behind the screens that make it all possible. Forest Therapy walks provide space for our senses to stretch and breathe, to cultivate relationships with our roots, and remember ourselves. HOW IT WORKS: Your ANFT Certified Forest Therapy Guide, Madison will work alongside the group through a sequence of invitations to engage our senses. During each invitation, participants will explore however they see fit before your guide calls you back to share. Your registration includes entry to the gardens, refreshments, and the expertise of Forest Therapy Guide, Madison Traviss, certified with the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy. If you are member of the gardens, please reach out to confirm your member status and receive a coupon code, your registration will deduct the entry fee. 24 hours before the event, you'll receive an email with more details. Due to the current state of the world, we will be requiring masks upon entry and throughout the walk. Participants are limited to 10 and we will respect social distancing protocol. WHY DO IT: Our evolution alongside trees allows us to have a positive reaction to what is called phytoncides. This natural diffusion of this chemical wards off unwanted fungi and is a tree’s defense. Breathing in this chemical increases our Natural Killer cells that find cancer cells and build immunity. More and more studies are showing that even looking at green space has tangible healing benefits. (Patients with bedside windows looking out on leafy trees healed, on average, a day faster, needed significantly less pain medication and had fewer postsurgical complications than patients who instead saw a brick wall.) LIMITED SPACE: Registration is limited to 10 participants to maintain a high-quality event, so please be thoughtful and let us know as soon as possible if you've registered and cannot attend, so that we may open the spot to others. Tickets are nonrefundable. However, if you are unable to attend, your registration money will be donated to a partner organization of your choosing. We also strive to bring this wellness practice to the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden’s partner nonprofits in the Greater Des Moines area. Part of your registration fee will ensure walks are free to members of these organizations. These walks are intended for individuals who are 13 years and older. If you are interested in arranging a walk with younger children, elderly, solo walks, corporate groups, animals, or to learn more please reach out to me at [email protected] or visit madisontraviss.com.
