Tonka is a 6 year old 72-pound neutered American Bulldog x Pit Bull mix. We took him in in February 2020 with the intent of rehoming him, but then Covid happened and he has been with us ever since. Tonka is an affectionate, loving boy who trusts his people and is devoted to them. This is the kind of boy that very much wants to please. He is mindful and well-mannered with his family. He is happiest resting his head on his person’s lap. Tonka’s ideal family loves the bully breeds and is dog- savvy. He needs a backyard with a sound 6-ft fence because he can effortlessly jump a 4-ft fence. He is not the kind of dog that can be left alone for hours but does well in the company of another dog. His loyalty and devotion to his family means he will defend his property (our back yard). Tonka is generally quiet unless there is a reason to alert. He has killed a squirrel so a no cats. He would do best with a canine-sibling that is not dominant. Tonka is gentle with people, including children, and has lovely house manners. Our 3-yr old 25-pound terrier has taught him how to play. Tonka is house and crate trained and uses a doggie door. He is on heartworm prevention and is current on his shots.
