BROCKTON, MA — A Randolph man was arrested in Brockton Thursday evening following a traffic stop that led to the confiscation of a firearm and 57 grams of cocaine, said a news release from Massachusetts State Police. Antenor Ruddy, 34, was taken into custody shortly before 5:30 p.m. near Route 24 northbound after two troopers observed him driving a white Nissan SUV while looking down at a cell phone, said police. During the traffic stop, police found that Ruddy's driver's license was suspended, according to the news release. Because he was the only occupant in the vehicle, a tow truck was requested and Ruddy was handcuffed while the vehicle was searched before removal. The search resulted in the discovery of a hidden loaded Ruger .380 pistol, 19 grams of a substance suspected to be crack cocaine, 38 grams of a substance suspected to be powder cocaine, and drug paraphernalia, said police. Ruddy was taken to the State Police barracks in Middleboro for booking and will be arraigned in Brockton District Court on multiple drug and firearm possession charges.
