Injured Attleboro Hockey Player Thankful For 'Awesome' Support

ATTLEBORO, MA — AJ Quetta, the Bishop Feehan hockey player who has received nearly $1 million in donations for treatment and rehabilitation since he suffered a serious spinal court injury during a game last month, thanked all those who've supported him Saturday in his first public statement since the injury. "You all give me a reason to keep fighting and keep pushing," said the North Providence, R.I. resident in a video released through hockey writer Joe McDonald. Quetta in a game in Springfield on Jan. 26 when he went head-first into the boards and was unable to move. This week, he was transferred from Massachusetts General Hospital to Shepherd Rehabilitation Center, which specializes in spinal cord and brain injuries. As of Saturday, there was more than $940,000 donated to the GoFundMe page set up to help pay for Quetta's expenses. "I don't have the words to describe how awesome you are," he said. The Boston Bruins Foundation also announced Monday that its 50/50 raffle held for Quetta had reached $300,000 — which the team said was its largest jackpot ever.
