GREAT NECK, NY — A police officer was transported to a local hospital after he was kicked and injured by a Great Neck man who he had stopped from creating a disturbance outside a Glen Head home on Wednesday, Nassau police said. Police said that officers were called to a home on Todd Drive over a report of a disturbance just after 10 p.m. and found Michael Molina, 30, banging on the home's front door while screaming obscenities. The officers told Molina to stop and step away from the home multiple times, but he ignored them and kept screaming, police said. Molina began to flail his arms and refused to be handcuffed, struggling with officers and while they were placing him in the rear seat of their patrol car, he "intentionally kicked" an officer on his right side, causing "substantial pain" to the officer's arm and shoulder, police said. The officer was later transported to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries, police said. Molina was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and well as resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration, which are both misdemeanors, and disorderly conduct, a violation. He will be arraigned on Thursday in Mineola. If convicted, he faces up on seven years in prison.
