Pittsburgh Man Charged With Threatening Congressional Members

PITTSBURGH, PA — A Pittsburgh-area man has been indicted on charges of threatening members of Congress. Harry Miller, 62, of Ross, is charged with sending threatening communications in interstate commerce. According to multiple reports, Miller allegedly called the offices of U.S. Sen. Richard Burr of North Carolina and U.S. Rep. Katherine Clark of Massachusetts in 2019 and 2020 and issued statements that allegedly included threats to travel to Washington, D.C. and shoot as many as five senators. Miller made an initial appearance in U.S. District Court in Pittsburgh on Friday before Chief Magistrate Judge Cynthia Reed Eddy, who released him on a $25,000 unsecured bond. If convicted, Miller faces up to five years in prison, a fine of $250,000 or both. The FBI and Capitol Police conducted the investigation.
