Students will learn one of the oldest forms of metal fabrication, hammer forming! 2-Day Workshop Date: Saturday, May 15 & Sunday, May 16, 2021 Time: 10am-5pm each day Description: Students will learn one of the oldest forms of metal fabrication, hammer forming! Hammer forming is a technique in which a sheet of metal is shaped with hammers and steaks (or any concave surface). We will start with a small demonstration while seeing some examples and talk about uses for this skill. Students will be assisted with the ideas and approached. They will end up with their own form from their very own imagination! Tuition: $165 + $30 materials fee Materials: All materials will be provided Location: Contemporary Craft (5645 Butler St., Pittsburgh, PA 15201) COVID-19: We are excited to welcome you to our new, permanent space for art in the artistic neighborhood of Lawrenceville. For your safety and the safety of those around you, face masks are required for all guests ages 2 and up for the entire duration of your visit.Maintain a safe distance. In order to minimize contact with surfaces, please refrain from touching surfaces and objects unless absolutely necessary. You can use the hand sanitizing stations located throughout the building. Cancellations and Refunds: Workshop cancellations are decided three business days before the start date. If workshops must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class fee will be refunded through Eventbrite, or you may leave your workshop fee in your Contemporary Craft account for future workshops. Refund Policy: Student refund requests must be made at least three business days before a class begins. There will be a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given without three-business days notice. Processing of refunds takes approximately three weeks. In her time there, she discovered her love for being in a studio, using her hands, and working with such a wonderful and strong material like metal. She found herself especially drawn to hammer forming techniques and was fascinated with the intimate relationship she was able to have with the materials.
