CHESTER, PA — A man wanted for tying up and robbing his adopted mother in Delaware County has been arrested, according to authorities.
Pennsylvania State Police said Christopher Dougherty was arrested at about 5 p.m. Thursday in Chester after being accused of a home invasion and robbery that occurred last week.
Dougherty is accused of coming into the Middletown Township home of his 80-year-old adopted mother at about 6:30 a.m. Feb. 11.
Police said Dougherty, also known as Peter Franco, forcefully entered her home armed with a hammer and bound her to a chair with duct tape.
He is accused of stealing about $1,150, the victim's cellphone, and car keys then fled in her vehicle.
Dougherty was described by the victim as having violent tendencies, police said.
Court records show Dougherty faces four felony robbery counts, felony trespassing, and felony receiving stolen property in addition to false imprisonment, simple assault, and other charges.
Dougherty is being held on $500,000 bail and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on March 3, according to court records.
