New COVID-19 Cases See Slight Weekly Decrease In Buffalo Grove

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — Like every other municipality in Illinois, the Village of Buffalo Grove has been dealing with its own unique data points regarding the coronavirus. According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, 3,013 people have contracted COVID-19 in Buffalo Grove since the outbreak began. That is an increase of 56 cases since Patch's last report on Feb. 11. For further comparison, there was an increase of 69 cases between Feb. 4-11 and 43 cases between Jan. 28-Feb. 4. The Lake County Health Department reports there have been 53,840 confirmed cases in Lake County. That's an increase of 541 cases since Feb. 11. For further comparison, there was an increase of 821 cases between Feb. 4-Feb. 11. In addition, there have been 908 deaths, marking an increase of 17 since Feb. 11. For further comparison, there was an increase of 23 deaths between Feb. 4-Feb. 11. The Lake County recovery rate from the coronavirus is currently 98.1 percent. Recovered cases are defined as persons with initial positive specimen collection date greater than 42 days who have not expired. The Recovery rate is calculated as the recovered cases divided by the sum of recovered cases and total deceased cases. The Illinois Department of Public Health reports 54,677 people have been tested across Buffalo Grove (zip codes 60069, 60089) as of Thursday. That marks an increase of 1,617 tests since our last report on Feb. 11. According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, 34 people have died due to COVID-19 in the Cook County portion of Buffalo Grove since April 6. The latest deaths came on Feb. 13 and 15. Walgreens, Uber Partner Up To Address Vaccine Equity Barriers As of Thursday, there have been 1,016 coronavirus-related cases in the Cook County portion of Buffalo Grove, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health. That marks an increase of 22 cases since Feb. 11. For further comparison, there was an increase of 20 cases between Feb. 4-11. The Illinois Department of Public Health reports there have been 3,847 confirmed coronavirus cases and 485 deaths in long-term care facilities in Lake County. In the past, the IDPH has temporarily removed some cases and deaths on three occasions since Patch has been tracking these numbers, before including them back in at a later date.
