Here's Why A Helicopter Is Hovering Above Strongsville

STRONGSVILLE, OH — Strongsville residents may see a helicopter hovering overhead. The Illuminating Company is sending a helicopter to inspect power lines in the region. Choppers from Chesapeake Bay Helicopters will be in Strongsville. "A routine patrol is flown at speeds of 25-35 mph, but they may also hover to get a closer look at any conditions they may find," Strongsville police said on social media. The power line inspection will take place over three weeks, depending on weather, city officials said. Current forecasts show a possibility of snow and frigid temperatures this weekend, though conditions could warm up next week. Temperatures could climb into the low 40s by Wednesday, with clear skies expected. Helicopters are used to inspect power lines around northern Ohio and have been used to visually examine other areas, like Avon Lake.
