Press release from City of Sandy Springs: 02/16/2021 The City of Sandy Springs has selected architectural services firm Jericho Design Group to design renovations at 620 Morgan Falls Road, the site of the City's new public safety facility. The complex will be home to police headquarters, municipal court, a future fire station, fleet maintenance facility, and training facilities. The City received 16 proposals, which were examined for administrative compliance with the solicitation requirements, scored based on qualifications and experience, quality of team proposed, project delivery, the firm's approach and innovations to meet goals, and financial history and stability. The five highest-ranking firms were invited to make virtual presentations, and a City evaluation team conducted in-person interviews with the top three candidates. "Jericho's experience with both whole building renovations and municipal design impressed the evaluation team. We felt they not only have the needed institutional knowledge, but also can envision the innovative ideas to create a first-class facility for our public safety personnel," said Deputy City Manager Dave Wells. Doug Shaw leads Jericho Design Group. He designed his first law enforcement project in 1990, and his career was built specializing in law enforcement and justice projects throughout the world. Adaptive reuse projects, like the public safety building, are especially appealing. "I enjoy renewing and repurposing old buildings. The shape of the Morgan Falls building is interesting. It doesn't wow you today, but when we are through, I think it will," said Shaw. Jericho Design Group has partnered with Dewberry, a leading professional services firm, on the project. The two organizations have worked together on many projects over the past ten years. Shaw added that Dewberry brings an added layer of perspective and expertise related to best practices to ensure that Sandy springs will be the model for other jurisdictions. Projects designed by Doug Shaw at Jericho Design Group and Dewberry include the Juvenile Courthouse and Courthouse and Jail in Forsyth County, Public Safety and Training Complex in Tampa, FL., Criminal Justice Complex in Nashville, TN., and Police and Government Building Renovations in Doylestown, PA. The project will be delivered under the Construction Manager at Risk model, in which the project is delivered within a guaranteed maximum price. The contract amount is $1,052,900.
