Fairlawn OH

Description

I found a slightly used HD gift card at the Home Depot in Fairlawn on 2/5/21 (my husband checked when I was there). It was outside the building (in front between building and parking lot). If you lost it (and you would know that, I think) and can prove you lost it by giving me at least part of the gift card number (last four digits would be on the receipt you used it on) and the amount left on the card then I'll give it back to you. If you bought it at another store perhaps the authorization for it would appear on something? YOU MUST PROVE IT. If you can't prove it then please do not contact me. And no hard luck stories about how you deserve it if I don't find the owner - sorry - not gonna want to listen to those either. I'll hold onto the card for 2 weeks for the owner to claim it. That's the sixth of March. If you are the person who lost the card or know someone why may have lost the card, please have the owner of the card contact me with ownership proof. Backstory: I bought something at HD and was going out to my car and found this. I threw it in the back of my van and figured it was just trash that someone had dropped instead of putting it in a trash can. I took it out of my van and today, just for kicks before I threw it out, I decided to see if there was a balance on it. Went to website and typed in the card number and pin and it showed a significant balance on it (most of the original cost of the card). Wow. I know that if I had lost it I would be pretty upset - and probably checking and re-checking pockets, purse, car, etc. until I was at my wits' end. I called Fairlawn location this morning and they didn't often have people saying they found a card but they did have people tell them they had lost a card. I asked them what they did with cards that people had left behind (with cashier, other). They put them in a box and wait for people to claim them. I'm sure they ask for some proof of ownership. 'Perhaps you can put my number by the box and if someone comes in and had lost a card on 2/5 then they could contact me and describe the card.' She did that (I think). She asked for the last four digits of the card and I said if that was publicized then that would take away one of the ways to verify the owner. She didn't think that was a problem so said okay.
