BIRMINGHAM, AL — Gov. Kay Ivey announced Thursday she is putting up a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the shooting death of 2-year-old Major Turner.
Major was shot and killed while sitting on the couch with his mother, Briahn Smith, on the evening of Feb. 4. at the Kimbrough Homes apartment complex in the 2900 block of John Bryant Road.
Shots were fired into the apartment, killing the child and injuring the mother, according to police.
"The circumstances surrounding this crime indicate that every effort should be made to apprehend and convict the perpetrator or perpetrators," Ivey said.
Ivey's $5,000 reward is addition to a $5,000 reward from Crime Stoppers.
