ATTLEBORO, MA — Since the rollout began, In Massachusetts there have been 1,272 doses of the vaccine wasted out of 960,100 that had been sent to the state, and if Attleboro Mayor Paul Heroux did not receive the vaccine it would have been 1,273 doses wasted. Paul Heroux took the vaccine and described this as a "use it or lose it" situation since no one else was eligible to take it after a last minute search. Although Mr. Heroux himself was technically not eligible to take the vaccine, he was offered nonetheless since it would have been wasted. The Sun Chronicle reached out to bring to Mr. Heroux's attention that rumors were arising that he skipped the line to take the vaccine. Mr. Heorux denied this rumor saying that this was an incident of someone potentially trying to ruin his reputation and portray him in a negative way. There were a dozen doses of the vaccine left, In which, Mr. Heroux was able to contact two seniors who were eligible for the vaccine and brought them to the clinic himself. As time was getting cut short, Mr Heroux took the vaccine simply because he was the only person that did not have it at that time and place along with the fact that the pharmacy company that ran the clinic was getting ready to leave.
