Sensory-friendly Easter Egg-Stravaganza
The 2021 provisional class of the Service League of Natchitoches has created a sensory-friendly Easter Egg-Stravaganza for children with exceptional needs as their community service project. Children with various sensory disorders and other disabilities are invited to the Prud’homme Rouquier House on Saturday, March 27, 2021 to enjoy an Easter event just for them, complete with games, activities, and a subdued Easter-egg hunt.
To comply with Covid-19 procedures, the event is broken into 2, 1-hour long sessions, beginning at 9am and 10am. Pre-registration is required to participate in this free event.
Every person, adults and children must be registered to participate in the event. The activities for this event are planned to accommodate children from ages 5-10 years of age.
Often, the crowds of people and loud noises that can happen at community Easter egg hunts can be overwhelming for children with exceptional needs. The provisional class decided to create an event that will be less stressful for these individuals and their families so they may enjoy the Easter activities that so many of us have grown up with.
In addition to the egg hunt, children will have the opportunity to create Easter cards for nursing home residents, participate in craft activities and lawn games. The Easter Bunny will make an appearance, so bring a camera to snap some pictures.
