PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — Members of the City Council wield enormous power over what happens in New York City, and Patch wants to hear from residents in District 39 about what issues matter to them in this year's election. For the first time since 2013, Brooklyn's 39th District will have someone other than Brad Lander representing them in City Council. So far, seven candidates have put their hat in the ring to replace the term-limited council member, who is vying to become the city's next comptroller. Brooklyn's 39th District — once represented by Mayor Bill de Blasio — extends over Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, the Columbia Waterfront District, Gowanus, Park Slope, Windsor Terrace, Borough Park and Kensington. Ahead of the June 22 primary election, we're asking readers to weigh in about what issues matter to them in the neighborhood. What problems are going unaddressed? What good programs should be built upon? Fill out the survey below, and we'll ask the candidates to respond to the issues you raise: Loading… Patch reporters Gus Saltonstall and Nick Garber contributed to this report.
