NORWALK, CT — Mayor Harry Rilling has declared another snow emergency in Norwalk Thursday, Feb. 18, as the winter of 2021 continues to pound the city and the state. The snow emergency began at 11 a.m. Thursday, and it will remain in effect until further notice. Norwalk Public Schools were on remote learning schedule on Thursday. Inclement weather is expected to last into Friday, with a chance of snow accumulations of 6 inches. Norwalk officials said the declaration means the following: The Yankee Doodle and Maritime Garages are open for free overnight parking. We ask residents to move vehicles off of the street as soon as possible.City Hall and City buildings will be closing early at 12 PM today.Calf Pasture Beach, Veteran's Park, and Cranbury Park are all closed.City garbage and recycling collection is ongoing for Thursday, but not all routes may be completed due to road conditions. The Friday collection is on as planned, but may be delayed. We will have more information later tonight.COVID-19 testing operations at Veteran's Park and Norwalk Community College may have delayed openings tomorrow.
