SOUTHWEST RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — Beginning Monday, Animal Friends of the Valleys will be celebrating World Spay Day by handing out vouchers for free spaying or neutering of dogs and cats in Canyon Lake, Lake Elsinore, Menifee, Murrieta, Temecula and Wildomar. The voucher handouts are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day from Feb. 22 through Feb. 27. Residents will be limited to two non-transferable vouchers per household. (Each voucher value is up to $100 for dogs and $60 for cats.) Residents must provide proof of residency (driver's license, utility bill, etc.) and must reside within the AFV Southwest Community Animal Shelter jurisdiction (see a map here). Do not bring your pet(s) to the voucher handout events. "World Spay Day is a nationwide event that is usually celebrated on the last Tuesday of Februaryacross the United States, but this year we are making it a weeklong event to help thecommunity. The goal is to help end pet overpopulation by ensuring that pets are fixed and nothaving unwanted litters," according to a news release from Animal Friends of the Valleys.
