This 2-hour class will cover the basics of how to use Inventables Easel software to prepare a design for carving on the X-Carve CNC machine.
Learn how to use CNC machines in your project! Resident woodworker Josh Greene will go over the tools available for drawing shapes, how to import an SVG file, and what speeds and feed rates are best for different materials. He'll also talk about different kinds of bits that are available and their best uses. Josh will also be available to help with your first project if you need help with planning or when it comes time to cut.
Most importantly you'll get hands-on experience with the XCarve machine itself and cover best practices for clamping material to the wasteboard, how to change bits in the router, and safe machine operation.
Guests are asked to be on time for events. If the safety briefing is missed, the guest will not be able to join the class and no refunds will be given.
MakerSpace Charlotte dues-paying members can contact Steve for discounted tickets.
Face coverings are required. Masks must cover nose and mouth, as mandated in NC. Hand sanitizer and bathrooms are available for hand washing during the event. Guests will be asked to maintain social distance during the class.
